Have an awareness of language and a competence in English, both
written and spoken, that enables the participants to undertake
the course and prepare for teaching a range of levels
Have the potential to develop the necessary skills to become
effective teachers and to successfully complete the written assignments
and the teaching practicum
Have a standard of education equivalent to that required for
entry into university
Please note that although it is not necessary for applicants to possess a Bachelor's degree to enter the CELTA program,
many foreign countries and Canadian associations (such as TESL Canada) require university degrees from their ESL teachers.
Submit the application form, the completed pre-interview
task and the $100 CAD application fee (no personal cheques, please) to the CELTA centre. The task gives the applicant a chance to
demonstrate his or her language awareness.
Please note, money orders, bank drafts and bank certified cheques must be made out to ILSC (Montreal) Inc.
Agree to come in
for an interview (or consent to a telephone interview) which will
further determine the candidate's ability to successfully complete
the course.
